Malacca (Malaysia): Lorong Bukit Cina

Posted in Malacca, Malaysia, Travel by happyhighfashion on June 5, 2010

Our first meal in Malacca was Satay Celup!

There was a queue when we arrived at 5.15pm so we headed across the road to get some Black soy milk to quench our thirst.

Back to the queue at Capitol Satay Celup Restaurant… A stand alone branch by itself, with no “sisters, brothers or branches in Malacca or anywhere else”.

41 Lorong Bukit Cina,
75100 Melaka,
Tuesday to Sunday, from 5pm (Closed on Monday)

We finally managed to get a seat at 5.45pm and we went straight for the food selection section.

Each stick is priced at RM0.80 and there are coloured plates (like your sushi conveyor belt plates) that are priced differently. They also have “mystery gifts” and we had big prawns, scallops, abalone that were at a promotional price at RM0.80 (same price as the usual sticks).  It was delicious!

The third generation owner, Mr Low Yong Cheng personally came to serve us and concoct our satay sauce.

Satay Celup aka Steamboat Satay

What goes into that steaming hot pot of sauce?!

Behind the scenes in the kitchen, lay individual pots of satay sauce.  At least we know each table gets a fresh pot of satay sauce!
