Johor Bahru (Malaysia): OTWC, PRAC, Mahkota Hotel

Posted in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Travel by happyhighfashion on June 5, 2010

After crossing the Woodlands checkpoint, we had our breakfast at Old Town White Coffee (OTWC) in Johor Bahru City Square.

We ordered toast, their signature Ipoh white coffee and sampled some of their classic dishes, Old Town Nasi Lemak Special and the Old Town Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun.

Thereafter, we attempted to walk to the Terminal Bas Central Kotoraya, Johor Bahru to pick up our rented cars from PRAC.  Alternatively, SBS bus 160, 170 or 950 brings you directly there.

I HATE PRAC.

Their service is terribly slow. We waited 1.5 hours to get our 3 rental cars. Why?

1. The lady took 30 minutes to do the paperwork for each car. Ridiculous.

2. One of our cars was blocked by a car owned by another shop and they were rude.

3. With the expectation that we were coming to collect our cars on that day, I do not see why our 3 cars were not ready for our collection.

4. An ang moh couple received their car within 15 minutes from HERTZ.

It took us 3 hours to drive up from Johor to Malacca. However, we were stuck in a jam for about 1 hour to get into the main town in Malacca and to our hotel. We finally checked-in into our 3 bedroom apartment in Mahkota Hotel Melaka at 4.30pm (behind schedule thanks to the inefficient and slow PRAC minah and the traffic jam).

Address: No. 16 Jalan Sayed Abdul Aziz, 75000 Melaka

Our apartment resembled the picture from mahkotahotel and it was clean, value for money.

Cost: MYR549 for 11 persons = approximate S$22 per person a night.

We were given a room with a breath-taking view from our balcony.
