Hong Kong: Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

Posted in Hong Kong, Travel by happyhighfashion on November 7, 2009

Our 3rd day in Hong Kong was dedicated to Tsim Sha Tsui.

First road stop: Cameron Road

We had our brunch at Charlie Brown Cafe located on G/F-1/F, 58-60 Cameron Road (Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, Exit B2).  As we walked up the flight of stairs, we were greeted with lots of figurines, say hello to Charlie, Woodstock and Snoopy!  See more pictures from travelingape of the cafe’s interior.

We each ordered a Happy Breakfast Set A which includes a Croissant or English Muffin or Toast (with Jam and Butter) and Omelette with (Ham/Cheese/Onion/Tomato/Mushroom – choose two), served with Fruit Juice/Tea/12oz Americano/Espresso for HK$36.  The food was edible but definitely not savoury.  It is a beautifully decorated place to chill but other than surfing the free wi-fi and picture taking, its only worth going for the kids and if you are a big fan of Charlie Brown!

Second road stop: Granville Road

There are many independent boutiques and stores selling inexpensive slightly flawed or outlet clothing.  If you turn into Granville Circuit at 52A Granville Road, you will find Rise Shopping Arcade with lots of local designer shops and imported fashions.

There was a long queue at Chocoolate and we had no clue why…

Chanced upon this shop, Chapel’ selling affordable cool footwear, accessories and clothes.

Bonjour is one of the beauty shops with many outlets around Hong Kong and it is similar to Mannings and SaSa.

There was this lingerie shop (I am unable to remember the name) which had bra-cup sizes on display from A, B, C, D………… all the way to I !!!!

SamaZama located on G/F, 35A Granville Road stocks top brand limited-edition sneakers sourced from Japan, Europe and US. Young designers of Japan, Europe and Hong Kong partnered to create their own stylish clothing brand.  They have a Facebook page here.

Here are some random shots of the shops along Granville Road.

Third road stop: back to Cameron Road

We had planned to come to Initial Cafe located on 48 Cameron Road for brunch but as it wasn’t opened, we went to Charlie Brown Cafe (as seen above).  After exploring Granville, we decided to have a break and share something to munch on here.

This super hip cafe in TST is in a store but is still really cute nonetheless. Featuring high ceilings, polished concrete floors and an ecelctic array of vintage looking-chairs in earth tones, this cafe is a soothing place to escape from the hectic streets of TST. Bring your laptop, order a coffee, pasta or dessert and enjoy the free wireless connection.

Here is our plate of Crème brûlée (also known as the trinity cream)!

Fourth road stop: Carnarvon Road

We headed to Tin Cheung Camera Company located on Shop 5 Friends House, 6B Carnarvon Road to get my Lensbaby Composer Lens for my DSLR.  Here are some test shots!  The first picture is using the Composer Lens alone.  The second picture had a Wide Angle Lens mounted on top of the Composer Lens.  I didn’t like the effect of the latter so I purchased with the Composer Lens and the Creative Aperture Kit.  The people at Tin Cheung were very friendly and their customer service was excellent.  They were patient despite us asking so many questions and checking prices.
